Project 1

[Due, last day of class]

Design Journal

Use the Journal during the semester to keep notes about the class, game rules, game ideas, definitions of game mechanic’s, game categories, game experiences and game research. This cane be done digitally if you prefer.

Project 2

Game Card Creation

For this project you will create 9 cards for a made up game. This project is about utilizing your Photoshop skills and creating a cohesive design for your cards. Make each card different but keep a common theme.You do not need to make an actual game. Use a google search to get an idea of what cards look like in past and present games.

Each card should be 2.5” x 3.5” in size. All your cards should be laid out on one 8.5” x 11” piece of paper at 180dpi. Save your file with your first name, last initial. ex. JoeVS.jpg. Save your image as a PSD and a JPG.

* creating a back side to your cards. - The best way to do this is to make a pattern for the back instead of using an image or design. Depending on the printer, you may also need to put less cards on a page and keep the card designs in towards the center.

Project 3

Game Piece Creation

For this project you need to create a complex game piece and print 1 game piece for your game or an imaginary game. You need to create the model using Tinkercad. The game piece should be no larger then 5 inches tall and 2x2 inches wide/deep.

Project 4

Game Creation

For this project you need to create and print a mock up of your table top game. The game must be playable and have printed rules. If you are making a dice game you need to layout the rules as a pamphlet.

* Resolution should be 180 dpi at size

* Use "guides" to designate the print area

Pick a game you know well and like. Then create an alteration/expansion to the game by altering/adding rules and creating new exceptions. Write down your alterations in your Journal ready for presentation!

Assignment #4

Create one custom dice using TinkerCAd. The dice should be 15mm to 25mm in size.

Assignment #5

Print, Make, Play 3 times and Report on one of the following single player Print & Play games:

- Zombie in my Pocket

- Utopia Engine

- Micropul

Assignment #6

Create a game board for a fake game. The game does not need to work. You do need to make a board that portrays a theme, is readable, helps the player learn how to play, and fits the pieces.
